Classic & Vintage - Identify this campy downtube shifter.

So the closest thing I can match this DT shifter is the Victory shifters but those are straight while this one has a little bit of flare.

Not that easy of a thing to do with aluminum, I wouldn't think. I used a Super Record headset spacer as a key ring for a while. Kinda catchy. As in, it caught on everything. That pic inspires me. Wonder if my wife would like a pair of ear rings made from some NR shift levers?

Aluminum is brittle. That would take serious work to bend a Triomphe/Victory lever.

My wife has some earrings made from my guitar picks. The shifter lever is pretty nifty.

So pretty much the consensus is a bent Victor shifter? I can't think of any other downtube shifter that had the campy script on it.

Anyone venture to guess, or know, what it would take to do such a thing? I LOVE the way it looks.

I've got a pair of panto Bianchi NR/SR shifters with a bit of a curve to them and I believe a later version of the C Record levers had a curve to them as well.

Would they simply snap if pressed far enough? Is heat the solution? Calling all metallurgists, lol.

I've got a pair of the same Victory levers I'd be willing to sacrifice :)

Hi-jack welcomed! I was pretty much veering down the same route as well.

Heat has got to be the solution, but how much is enough? I might practice on some cast alu rod first. Plus, with such a short piece as that shifter, getting it into that nicely curved radius would be a little tricky. Interesting.

I wonder why somebody would bend it in the first place, as it's used as a hipster decoration anyway. Maybe some odd TT guy did it back in the day to emulate the Modolo look?

it certainly looks Victoryish and perhaps some were made by Campi for TT bikes. I am sure there is also any number of guys who like the drillium crowd could easily do this in there home workshop.

it looks interesting as a necklace. I used a Superbe sgifters as a keyfob for a time. shifter earings may be interesting, I have to chat with my jeweler and Drillium Dude about it.

Yes. I can't see any advantage to having that profile on the bike.

It is for making it easier to grip (get your finger under it) when the shifters are mounted on top of the tube.

In the mid-80's Shimano began staggering their left shifter to aid in right handed shifting, a similar concept to curving them.

Here's a Campy shifter key fob I got from Wheelsmiths Bike Shop in Palo Alto, in about 1982. It's not a modified real shift lever, and I've never seen or heard of another. Anyone ever come across this or other promotional items from Campagnolo?
