If this 48 Lenton Sports (http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150618977994&ssPageName=ADME:B:WNA:CA:1123) is worth $450 then what's an original example worth?

And what about that colour?

Auctions are confusing.

I saw that too and was kind of gobsmacked. It's beautiful, but I just don't really understand the appeal.

But it didn't sell for $450. It sold for 275 pounds, which isn't quite the same. When I lived in England, we stopped converting dollars to pounds eventually because 1 pound bought you about what 1 dollar bought you here. The exchange rate has nothing to do with what a currency's buying power really feels like. So the person who bought it, if British, may have paid what feels to them like about $275. Consider Raleigh Sports in bad condition go for near that much in my neck o'the woods, that seems reasonable enough for this bike, I guess. It's not a steal, but it's hardly insane, is it?

Or is there something I'm missing about Lentons?

I wouldn't want that, but if I did, I think that price is pretty reasonable. I have to save these photos, though, to show someone who wants to repaint a bike. Seller says it's the original color and faithful reproductions of the original decals. Really? It just doesn't look right to me. The modern components, though probably as good or better in many ways, don't do it for me either.
