If your fork/frame has disc tabs and if the hubs on your wheels are disc compatible then you can upgrade. If the fork is missing the disc tabs you will have to get a new fork. If the hubs aren't disc compatible you can either get new hubs laced to the rims you currently have or you can get a new set of disc compatible wheels.

I don't think you have the right hubs. Which means you either need to replace the wheelset or get new hubs and have someone rebuild your wheel. Both would be expensive. The fork does have disc mounts. But I can't tell about the frame. But Shock Therapy/Brake Therapy makes a special thing so you can put discs on any bike. If you have the right hubs.

I'm very certain that the 2004 Hardrock Sport has rear dics mounts. Anything is possible with the right amount of $.

Brake Therapy Disc Brake Conversion (http://www.therapycomponents.com/BRAKETHERAPY.htm) This is a web site that DjRider04 & FoX Rider may have been referring too.
