Classic & Vintage - Looking for info on this older Bianchi Backstreet

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I picked this bike up today to replace my sister's bike which was stolen (a beat up older Giant MTB). It needs quite a few little things fixed on it (tubes, broken spoke, brakes adjusted, grips, and the like) so I got it for $50. It looks like it has hardly been ridden and was soaked in chain lube/Teflon grease everywhere so it was fairly well protected from whatever elements it saw.

I'm just curious about what year this may be and what it probably cost new (to justify my purchase :P) Any other info or links to sites would be appreciated! I don't know if this is even technically classic or vintage...

it is a '90 or '91 you can tell that easily by the flower power decals and art deco Bianchi headtube badge.

I can't remeber just where it's place in the line up was. what are the components?

Have a look through How Old Is My Bike? (http://www.mytenspeeds.com/My_TenSpeeds_1/FREE_SITE_VINTAGE/VINTAGE_1_Start.htm) and you should have a bit of fun determining vintage yourself.

Hope this is a help.
