All these bikes are similar, probably all good bikes. Any suggestions regarding function / durability? (my daughter will probably pick based on the color)

Trek if she's a princess, Specialized if she's a tomboy, and Giant if she's in between. :D Of course, the Trek features the most impressive advertising, so must therefore be the better bike! ;) But seriously, take her out to test ride the bikes and let her tell you which one she wants! :thumb:

i'm not sure how the pricing compares in the us, but i'd recommend checking out norco. my daughter's on her second one - she had a 20" and now has a 24" - and they seem to be as good and as well equipped as the major brands you mention, for a bunch less $$.

Thanks for the note on Norco. I checked their website, and they don't offer single speed simple 20" bikes. Of course, for similar models Norco bikes are cheaper.

Single speed 20" on the Canadian Norco site not US.

My 5yr/9M old daughter ended up getting the Specialized Hotrock 20. There's actually a pink/red one available.

She likes the look of Trek Mystic 20 look a bit more, because of the accessories, but the handle bars were a bit too high for her from her seating position (like riding a chopper).

The Hotrock is a very nice bike. We've had the 12, 16, and 24-Street versions and all are lighter than the norm and very durable. Great bikes.

I got my daughter an Electra Hawaii II. She LOVED it. I had to add gears recently, so she could ride with us. How old is she?
