Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Opinion of Sole Bicycles

I'm a college student looking to pick up an inexpensive fixed gear / single speed bike and came across Sole Bicycles (http://www.solebicycles.com).

What is everyone's opinion on this company? Anyone have any experiences with them they could share? What are some alternatives? They have some cool color schemes and prices seem pretty reasonable. Please keep in mind I'm not a hardcore bike rider and would mainly be using this bike to commute around campus, so I don't need anything fancy.

Looks like another crappy company trying to cash in on the "fixie craze." HiTen steel, you are paying for rad colors. Looks like bigshot, republicbikes, etc.. Get a Kilo

Generally if you open the website and its a bunch of attractive females wearing the bikes instead of riding them, it's gonna be fail.

Is hi ten steel actually that much worse than chromoly?

It is the heaviest, lowest quality steel available. If you dont mind paying 300$ for a pretty bike then go through that site. There is a reason people recommend the Kilo :)

What annoys me the most about these bike companies is that they all use machined rims with no rear brake or no brakes at all... WHY.

I like all the names they gave for different color combos.

I was doing some searching and found a company called Wyatt Bicycle Company and their bikes are similar to Sole Bicycles, except have much better components and the frame and fork is made out of 4130 Chromoly. They have all the same components on the bikes that Big Shot Bikes have on their bikes. It looks like the company is new and is in the process of manufacturing their first batch of bikes at the moment. They have animated pictures of the bikes on their website to give people and idea of what they look like. It says that actual photos of the bikes will be coming very soon and the bikes will be available for purchase in October. It looks like you can pre-order your bike for $310, but then the price will go back up to the Suggested Retail at $350. Visit their site at www.wyattbikes.com

You pay for the actual membership to the forums and then you start a thread in the deals subforum where you introduce yourself honestly and you explain why you think your product is of actual value to members of this forum, who for the most part, actually know something about bikes. Put lots of pics in your thread. We are, for the most part, not the type of people who will by a bike just because we like the color it comes in and we are definitely not the type of people who will think anything good about a bike company that compares itself to big shots. Your bikes are not that expensive so if they could be a good value but this kind of thing just makes it look like you are trying to make a quick buck.

prooftheory is right on the money. It's cool to be a new company and everyone needs to get the word out somehow but you're going about it wrong.
