I don't have Versus, could anyone recommend anyway to watch the Tour de France on the internet or mobile phone, I don't mind paying.
Thanks

Pirate sources are typically also available, but they are typically poor video quality and unreliable.

I find all kinds links that have great video quality and are very reliable. That's how watched the Giro.

i paid 4 universal sports for the giro... was a little suspect of spending $$ for on demand video... but it worked out very well, and I can go back and watch some other stuff now too.
i'll pay for the vs. access

I took a look at cyclingtv and it looks to me that they are only offering a recap. I might be wrong. I might spring for the all access from NBC. They are going to have an iPad app for it too, so if they actually stream to my iPad it would be worth it to me. I'm waiting to see the pricing and if the app is free with all access, or if it's a stand alone.
I cut cable off last year to save money with the idea that I'd treat myself to the tour at least. The happy surprise is that I get high def Universal Sports with rabbit ears and watched the Giro.

Usually, cycling.tv has links to several different streaming video sites. You should be able to find at least a couple that will work. Eurosport generally has excellent coverage of all things cycling, but I don't know how licensing will figure in.

The one thing I can't figure out and I've tried, is if you buy the all access from NBC, will the apps be free when they are available? It looks like it's all part of the thirty bucks, but it's hard to tell. What did anyone get last year?
When you get the NBC all-access can you watch the stage whenever you want? Or just live? Can you watch stages multiple times? Thanks.

I purchased the one for the Giro and it was awesome. You could watch live or time delay, and yes you can watch multiple times. Another cool thing was no commercials! The commentary would stop during commercial breaks, but they would continue showing the race (with ambient sounds) until the commentary resumed. I thought that made it more interesting to watch even if you had cable coverage.
Of course, there was also a downside. If you didn't watch live, the clip would show a screen capture of the winner so you had to sort of cover the screen with your hand while you clicked play to avoid a spoiler.

nbc all access will have on demand full stage coverage from what they wrote to me. I'm posting a thread for it because I was wondering and have seen so many others ask the same

Looks like the NBC live streaming video app is $15 for Android:

NBC here is showing the replays that used to run 3-4 times following the live race feed on VS. I think they are only showing it one time here. Phil and Paul had the call today.

I've been using cyclingfans.com all season, get the British Eurosport broadcasts. Quality has been good, I've got a T-1 line at work (and management that actually doesn't mind that I have the day's race or stage on in the background while I'm working) so buffering isn't an issue. It saves me having to blow the entire evening on the Versus broadcast.

Okay, I had no problem watching the Giro on demand on the internet. Everything there worked fine. I paid for "All access TDF at the NBC Sports website...and can't find a Stage 1 replay for the life of me. All I can find are the highlight clips and interviews. Has anyone been able to watch the broadcast of Stage 1 on NBC Sports in the time since it aired live? Is "All Access" = all access to 3 minute highlight clips? Frustrating, since I was really on the fence about buying access.

Another big problem: If "all access" only means LIVE broadcast, why don't they say when the live internet cast is going to start? I see times listed for Versus, it is simply a Versus simulcast? How can NBC Universal's Giro be so much more user friendly than NBC Sports? I need an Excedrin...
Edit: okay, so the first few broadcasts seem to start at 8AM. Exactly the time I'd like to be on the road myself to beat the 100F+ daily heat index. So I have to choose...a little bummed out

There is another thread with similar questions about the NBC streaming. I had the same problem this morning (such a clumsy website) and pm'd thenomad since he started the thread. He was kind enough to answer me back as soon as he figured it out. This is his response from the other thread:
On demand of full stage is up, open the stage player (Watch Now) and it'll have the short clips, unfortunately it'll start playing the last clip loaded so you want to pause it to avoid a spoiler.
Then look on the upper left and it shows "More Video" dropdown menu. Go to the option "Full stage replays". It'll have today's full 5+ hour stage.
Personally, as I wrote in the other thread, I have problems with the way NBC is handling the all access part of the deal. I thought the apps were part of the thirty dollars, but they want fifteen more. And my computer is about to blow a gasket using their sub-par Silverlight delivery. I'm trying to get a refund. I think the service is very poor.

Thanks for the input DLBroox. My wife designs websites, and she wouldn't have let this one out the door in such a state.

I can relate. I teach graphics and I would have failed a kid that made such a useless site!

Stupid versus is only available in USA. Of course they tell you on the day of the event after you've paid...

Can you let me know how that goes please? I tried looking for a contact us link but nothing was visible enough for me to find it. I went to cyclingfans instead and used my PS3 to watch it.

I sent an email to the address they give you in the app: tourhelp@nbcsports.com
So far I got an email back saying that they've put in a ticket and I should get the problem resolved soon. It's the weekend, so I'm waiting until late Monday morning to pursue it further if I get no response.

Given the fact it's a holiday weekend, you may be waiting until Tuesday.

I just got an email from customer service that my ticket has been closed and they've sent a request to the billing department for a full refund. They apologized for the confusion.
At least they have done the honorable thing. I would possibly still get the app for the iPad, but I don't yet know if there is video on demand, and there are so many complaints in the app reviews about the all access thing I just don't know if it's any good. For now I'll use steephill.tv and whatever else I can find.
So pcfxer that email I gave you is a good one. Use that if you want a refund too.

I've been watching the EuroSport coverage on my Android tablet. Works great. Very knowledgeable commentary from Sean Kelly. EuroSport is the first listing on cyclingfans.
No luck with the EuroSports links here at work. Ah well I am pvring it on TSN2 at home, I'll watch the highlights tonight.
