Is it worth it?

As is the case with all used bikes, the owner says he only rode it once and it has been sitting in his house since then. He has the original receipt from when he purchased it ($906) Deore components, BB5 mechanicals...

I know pretty much nothing about mtb's but have more friends that ride trails than roads... Not about to give up my road bikes but it might be fun to join them from time to time.

Any thoughts/opinions are appreciated. Sorry to be one of those guys coming around and asking if a used bike is worth the cost.

The Specialized Rockhopper Comp design has been around pretty much from the beginning of MTB, so if your looking for a quality bike geometry, you can check that box. Deore is the economy level of Shimano's quality stuff, so if your looking for decent components, I'd check that box too. The fork and wheelset are to 2 other components that are the most expensive to replace, if they are original, they are probably equally good. If it's tuned and the bike fits you, you would be hard pressed to find a new one for $450 with the same level of quality. However, 450 seems a sellers price to me, see if you can get the seller down to 350-400. Otherwise, get it and ride the F out of it.:)
