was taking an old bb out of an old frame. it did what it needed to do.

I can dig it, I use an old pipe wrench with welded and ground tabs as a lockring wrench. Not pretty but works marvelously.

I've always just used old spokes. Unless the BB is seized in you don't need much force.
they (http://www.parktool.com/product/crank-and-bottom-bracket-wrench-hcw-4) make a tool for that
