So I found this Schwinn Le Tour in somebody's trash pick up pile and it definately needs some work. I was curious as to what year the bike might be from and where I can get some original parts to fix it up to sell it.

no idea, but depending on price/location/size, it might be a fun bike to rebuild.

Don't have the time now, but I'll check the catalogs later. Looks to be a 1986 to 1989 Letour. I'll narrow it down. What parts are you looking to buy? I don't see anything missing. The seat is ripped, but most people don't care much as they have a different seat they prefer, etc.

Brakes, derailleurs are all there, I don't see much needed except a thorough cleaning, new chain and new cables and housing. The brake hoods should clean up pretty well.

BTW, I don't mean to come off as snarky, it is just that I've seen newbies say they need new brakes when all they need is a simple adjustment. You might need new pads, but that is about $6.00 for 4 pads. Tires and tubes need to be evaluated. That is another $50.00 or so. Not gonna net you much profit. Having said that, it is a nice frame and is an excellent rider.

Doesn't need "original" parts to sell, just needs to be super clean and ready to ride. A bike like this one is not going to sell to a collector, its going to sell to someone looking for something decent to ride, and wants that vintage look.

The only it will make sense to fix up prior to selling is if you have the time/skills/tools/access to parts/etc to rehab it. Otherwise, you will spend more on it than you will get out of it. In that case, I would just clean it really good and sell as a project. Someone with the time/tools/yadda, yadda. will pick it up, do the work, and either keep it to ride, or resell it.

I agree, and want to add that it is easy to find new $9 tires and $2 tubes ($22 total) if you shop around online.

+ 1 thats a sharp looking bike & they ride comfortable, i would keep it simple uno good cleaning and new tires maybe

Definitely a fun project. Probably make it rideable with just seat and tape and a good cleanup. Nobody around here throws stuff like that away, or they do and I just don't see it.

so a few ppl have commented and said it looks to be from 86-89. I know from doing some searching online this bike was made from 78-89. I did find the serial # on the bottom and it said 87. I've cleaned most of the rust off and I was looking to put new tubes and tires on it, but if I had the time I would redo it myself. I guess I was looking for $150, especially if I put new tubes and tires on it, not sure about size, but it does ride nice. I'm in South Central Pennsylvania. If you or someone you know wants the bike for a rebuild project let me know.

It's 1989... if you squint real hard you'll see the blue/black fade alternate color scheme.

It looks like a complete Blaze group on there. What's missing or changed?

well what part of ohio, I have family in Union City,OH, in Darke Co. I'm headin out that way in august, but keep me in mind if u want the bike or if u know someone that would like to take it off my hands.

Before I comment more on that, I'd need to know the standover hight. It is tempting, I live 1 county over from you family it would seem.
