Northern California - Where can I find info about family friendly routes in San Francisco?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi all, family and I are spending a week in SF and we are taking our bikes and the kid's Burley. We're staying near Ghirardelli Square and would like to start our ride from there. However, I'm not opposed to driving to a better, flatter (ha!) starting point. Where can I find family friendly routes in SF? Thanks!

Stay off the Golden Gate Bridge. That could be pretty dangerous with a trailer.

Golden Gate Park is pretty tame, especially on weekends.

I don't live in SF, so I don't have any recommendations for you. Do check with the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition, as they tend to be a great group of folks and very helpful.

If family friendly means riding with kids, remember Golden Gate Park closes to vehicle traffic every Sunday. You can ride from the Flower Palace down to the waterfalls have fun!

Also you can ride along the Embarcadero, but Golden Gate Park is a lot more fun.
