i'm not so concerned with the ed issue as with comfort, particularly riding the trainer indoors over the winter months. what kinds of experiences have some of you had with these saddles? can you ride on the drops comfortably? i'm not interested in racing but do a fair amount of fitness and day touring (about 150 a week).

Redux is right, I remember the push in the early '90s.
Tooling around upright and in spin class, sure..makes sense.
On my MTB, no thanks - I sit on that nose when I climb and use it in many other ways. Other fast bikes, I move fore and aft all the time.
Otherwise, isn't the entire design of this saddle idea based on the assumption you wil sit upright, unrotated pelvis, with all the pressure on your sitbones? By design, that excludes a big percentage of the biking population.

You don't need a "no nose" saddle to solve the issue. A full length cutout will also work. I had numbness on every ride of any length, and lingering reduced circulation. When, after a forced week off the bike due to a crash, your wife asks "if you got an implant", you know your saddle is causing you problems. That's when I agressively sought out a solution, and went with this one. It solved my issues completely.

I had a brochure for this saddle in my kit bag. Got it at a ride somewhere. Interesting but I did not try it out.

I don't know of anyone who denies that penile numbness from bicycle riding can lead to ED. I have experienced the former and was concerned about the latter. I was able to eliminate the numbness without resorting to noseless saddles or cutout saddles by adjusting my bikes to fit well, by choosing firm saddles the right width to support my sit bones and by adjusting the saddles so that my perineum hovers above the saddle surface. I first acheived this with a Brooks B17, but have also set up bikes with padded saddles without numbness. I think the cutouts do make the setup easier and may even be necessary for some people and with softer padded saddles. YMMV

Well, some around here care more about the strength of their legs than that of what's between them.

Tried the cheaper Bell version and it sucked. Took it to a Frankenbike event and traded it for some handlebars. The guy there said it was an acquired taste and I had to admit that I never acquired it. I like the saddles with the cutouts, though.
