I like these kinds of threads. They have this thread in the MTB, Road, and Fixed Forums why not here too.

Nothing more fun and interesting then checking out other peoples rides. Its cool to other set-ups and how people have accessorized. Whether for commuting or racing. An even better idea is to make this thread a sticky so that when new members or people interested in 'bents check out the board they can see the variety of them out there. I know I would have liked having a simple reference like this when I was searching for types of 'bents a couple of months ago.

I'll start. Here is my three week old '04 Catrike Speed.

this was a pic to show my reflective table. but this is my burley limbo all decked out for night riding. so far I have about 250 miles on it in three weeks. I would have had more but I have been sick. I have new avid single digit 7 brakes for it to put on and I plan on upgrading the detailers and shifters too as I can afford it.

OK, here's 2 pics. The first is my Volae Team and the second is my Bacchetta Aero.

Hi Trsnrtr,

Beautiful high racers!

The Volae frame is made by Waterford, isn't it? I'll bet it's even more beautiful than your nice pic shows. And the Aero...your pic says it all...it looks fast just "standing" there! Do you notice a big difference in all-out speed between the two?

'Just curious...how'd you post the pics so large? Everytime I try to post up a pic, I have to down-size the image to fit the kb file limit. They end up as thumbnail images that can be "clicked" on to make larger for easier viewing...but I'd rather be able to post them up in a size large enough to view comfortably without having to resort to that.

Thanks for the great pics! I'll post up my pics soon. Take care.

:)

Both bikes are equally great to ride and seem to be equally fast. The Aero sits a little lower (I'm short) so I tend to ride it as little more.

My pics are linked here from a directory at my ISP instead of uploaded to this board. For example, the address for the aero is http://home.insightbb.com/~dtresenriter/aero7.jpg

Thanks for the explanation! I remember now, how I used to post up pics on another discussion board of another interest of mine. The only way to post up pics was to join an online photo storage server, then wrap URL tags around the designated URL for that individual pic. When that discussion board upgraded to another board service, we didn't have to use that process to post up pics anymore. I guess I've gotten sooo spoiled by the new image posting system, that I'd forgotten about the old system...and just got fat and lazy!

History of my tandem bents...
The Troika (2004) was the replacement for the Screamer (1996) But we found the trike to hard to get into a hotel room when we would stay at a hotel, just too wide and too long. And who wants to spend time taring a bike apart when theres a nice hot shower waiting? So we only used it on one tour. We sold the trike and replaced it with a Longbikes Gulfstream. Still it is a very Longbike, but it takes almost no time to split it in two.

After 7 years the Screamer started to show its age, no falt of the bike. It just that loaded touring is hard on a bike. And I have always liked underseat steering better then Above seat.

How do you like the seat on the Volae?

Sukispop,
Yes Waterford makes the frame.

Sukispop,
Yes Waterford makes the frame.

Do you mean the M5 seat or the 2 layer foam? Both bikes have the same seat and I like it a lot. I've ridden 4 centuries this year (2 per bike) on those seats and have had no problems at all.

As far as the seat pad goes, I can't tell much difference between the dual-density foam and the regular foam. I mustjust be a M5 kind of guy. To me, it's very comfortable and I think I could ride it all day with a thin pad to cover the seat bolt heads.

Oh and the side by side tandem... can you belive some one stole this bike? It was chained up outside the old shop, they smashed the lock (worth more then the bike) They road it about a mile before crashing it.

Hey Dr Duk,

When you hit the reply link(or use the advanced options link in the quick reply section), right down the bottom of the screen, there should be a section called Additional Options, I think the second option is called Manage Attachments. Click that button and it lets you upload pictures. You select a file on your computer and it uploads to the messageboard, and automagically gets included like my earlier response.

Dr Duk,

The images wont appear in the preview post option. They only appear when you post for real. The other option I can think of is that the images were too big..maybe try resizing them to make them smaller.

This thread is the first time that I posted a picture in this group so I don't know if it is the easiest way but here's how I did it. The picture has to be less than 100 kb. After uploaded the picture just like Tecumbent_Guy said, it gives a link to the picture. Next I clicked on the insert message icon twice (the yellow box with a mountain that is just above the message box). That will leave two HTML IMG commands in the message. Then I dragged the link into the middle of the two IMG commands. Alternatively I believe you can uplad an image to some other web page space and then type the link to that image in between the two HTML IMG commands.

Looking forward to seeing the picture of your bike. If it still doesn't work ask again.

My wife and I have a 2002 Vision VR-82 that we bought new and have enjoyed thousands of miles on. You can find a picture of ours in our Family web album in the "my bikes" album at the link below. I ride year around to work but I really miss riding with my wife and I too can't wait for it to warm up a little.

Yes, they (Vision) custom painted it for me for an extra $200. My wife picked the color. We really love this bike, the more we ride it the more we like it.

Is Streetmachine good for touring?

Dr. Duk

SkyMax

Is Streetmachine good for touring?

The answer to your question is YES!! The StreetMachine comes in three (3) versions. (component makeup, etc.) The StreetMachine is one of the top Euorpean "Bents" made primarily for touring. A very well made "Bent", great handling and very comfortable. I have a Streamer Fairing on my StreetMachine which makes a big difference in weather and wind. (winter use). On the below attachment I have a Mueller XT fairing which I use during the summer months. :D :D

Dear Doc Duk,
Thanx for your reply. Gee it is nice is'nt it?
Bit heavy but most Bent tourers are.
Fairly expensive but it is Kraut Kwality.
Fully Suspended, mmmmmmm, Fully Suspended.
Does that little fairing do much?
I'm a bit scared of Bents with a bottom bracket that high, will I get sore legs?
The seat is very reclined, will I get a sore neck holding my head up?
The Euro-style seat looks a little skinny compared to the comfort of a Rans style seat?

I am arriving in the USA to buy my first Bent and start my first tour in April. As you can see I know nothing about Bents or long-distance touring. (A little bit of knowledge can be dangerous).
Have you been on any long tours on the Streetmachine?
Sorry about all the questions.
Max.

New Challenge Mistral - particularly pleased with the high mounted rear light mount ('re-profiled' length of old seat post rivetted to the seat frame) and front handlebar substitute for the Trelock (a spare 3/8" drive socket - heavy but cheap).
