Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Trek Soho S has a noisy drivetrain

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I've been riding my new Soho S for a month or 2 now and I can help but think this thing is WAY noisier than it should be. One of the things I wanted in a single was the simplicity and smoothness of the drivetrain compared to my old urban mountainbike conversion but this thing is just noisy. Sounds like most of the noise and grinding sound is coming from inside the hub when I pedal. Is this just something that comes along with a flip flop hub or do I have a potential issue that I should have my LBS take a look at? I've checked chain tension and it seems fine. I've cleaned and re-oiled the chain and sprocket to make sure it's all in top nick and it doesn't make a difference. Also it only makes noise when I pedal...when I'm freewheeling it doesn't do it. Any thoughts?

Maybe it's the bottom bracket. Take it back to the shop for an inspection.

Take it back to the shop. I've jumped on a couple different Soho models at my LBS, and they were fairly quiet.
Thanks guys...sounds like the LBS visit is coming up.

With one finger, push lightly lift up on your chain, how far does it move?
