During the past month everytime I get back from riding with the local club my lips are all dried and they start cracking the next day. What do you put on them to help stop this? I've tried chap-stik, but it doesn't really help. I know I should learn to breath through my nose more but... My wife says it's cuz we talk too much when we ride as a group, I don't think that has anything to do with it. Also what to put on them to help afterwards?

Second the recommendation of Carmex (http://www.carma-labs.com/) (or any of the equivalent Rx clones)

Reapply your lip balm periodically. One application is likely not enough for a ride of any significant length.

Make sure to put some of that Carmex stuff on your lips before you go to sleep at night,,helps bring down swelling and helps heal lips alittle for next day,,also put again in morning after eating breakfast..Blistex also good for that.

Well I'll give it a try. And I'm sure my wife thanks you all.

Are you sure you're getting enough water during your rides? Often in the colder months, people aren't as inclined to get water, which may lead to a little bit more dehydration than normal. Combine that with the skin drying out more than usual due to colder temperatures, and you may have your answer.

If you aren't getting enough water, just make sure you're bringing enough water along, and that you also use some of the heavy duty chapstick recommended by the dudes here. I bet that would solve your problem.

Olive oil . . . Safe/natural, cheap/plentiful, as often as you'd like, at any time.

Second for Burt's Bees. It works well for me.

I'll pickup some of that bee's wax. We are going out Saturday in the annual "I'd Rather Ride My Bike Than Deer Hunt" ride.
