Hello all. I've been a frequent reader of this forum for the past several weeks. It has been a great resource. This is my first ever post...

I am just recently getting into cycling and am looking to purchase a cyclocross bike for around $1000. It will be used predominately as a commuter with the occasional weekend trail ride. I may even look to enter some cross races for fun in the fall. I have a large, athletic build (6'2" 200) and my commute is fairly steep in some areas

After researching online and visiting my LBS I have basically narrowed it down to 2 different bikes...I really like the 2011 Specialized Tricross Sport ($1250) but also found a 2010 Fuji Cross Comp ($900) to be a comfortable ride and capable of meeting my basic needs

The Fuji has Shimano 105 components whereas the Tricross has Tiagra components with a Deore LX Rear derailluer. Both frames are aluminum with carbon forks

Has anyone out there had experience with these 2 bikes? I guess what I'm trying to fgure out is if the additional $350 is worth it.

The links to each are below. Any help talking me throuigh this one is greatly apprecited.

Welcome to the forums! Sorry I don't have much knowledge of those bikes. My suggestion would be to test ride them both to see which you like better.

Welcome to Bike Forums. This is the Introductions forum.
Ask in the Commuting forum or the Cyclocross forum. You'll get plenty of help.

Howdy and welcome to the forums! I was looking at the Tricross, but they did not have any my size and estimated end of August to September before one would be available. It is a nice looking ride, good luck on picking your new ride.

I put about 1500 miles on my fuji cross comp last year, it has been a trouble free ride.
When bought the shop had a ultegra front derailer they installed for free.
I am getting ready to pull the kenda tires as they are tired and get something a little more road friendly.
