My stock Pake seatpost binder bolt is horrible. The bolt barely tightens or loosens (as in its incredibly hard to turn either direction). Its been like this since i got the frame. I tried loosening it to take it out and take a better look but im about half a turn away from stripping the bolt head its so hard to turn....probably have to drill it out when i replace it. Any tricks to get it out? Its like the end that you turn won't move out from the frame, so its basically pulling the seattube apart when u loosen it.

anyone else had this problem? its the half/branded 1" frame sold on ebay.

I'll probably order one of these

Is the 17,19,22mm measurement the diameter of the female end of the bolt?

Thanks!

No. It's the length of the threaded portion of the bolt (male part).

Did you grease the threads and are you loosening the correct side?

I had the same problem with my Kilo WT. A lot of cheap frames come with garbage seat binder bolts.

yes i'm loosening the correct side :D, it was super hard to turn straight out of the box. i tried taking it out a week ago to to grease it and wouldn't come out. even put a little tri-flo type lube in there to try and loosen it up....no luck. oh well.

TT, that measurement isn't that critical is it? mine seems like 17-19, looks like id be safe with either one. i don't want to take it out until the new one arrives...too much fun riding

Better go a bit short than too long, because it could bottom out and not tighten properly. There should still be plenty of thread engagement.

Mine came like that too. Didn't bother trying to use it so I just turned it back and forth until I forced it out(and stripped it) and took the remains to LBS who gave me a free one. :thumb:

New one didn't have the tab to hold one side in place though, so I need 2 allen keys to tighten it now.

mine totally seized I ended up having to get some big old bolt cutters to remove it. the sugino bolt I got to replace it has worked great.
