Classic & Vintage - Changing the culture at the office

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

This isn't especially C&V except that I'm riding a definitely C&V bike. Since late spring I've been commuting by car to train and then bike (13 miles) to the office, constrained by the train schedule but able to make it work.

Our office has several guys who run road races (foot races, not bikes) and are pretty good. One of the other guys in the office is a very good runner (has been known to win local 5k or 10k races, perhaps longer) and occasionally rides his Bianchi to work, about 8 miles he says. Last week my boss, who has been talking about buying a road bike to ride instead of his MTB, came in with a brand new XX*#ZXXZZ somethingorother (a Specialized, perhaps, I ferget), a real uberbike, having ridden about 12 miles from home. Then yesterday another guy who runs triathlons rode his Schwinn Passage, about 18 miles he says. In our last weekly group meeting our boss even commented on it, make reference to the effort to "go green". It's pretty cool, actually. I like to think I've had some effect at changing the office culture. Of course, I'm doing it on the coolest bike of the bunch, an upgraded '72 UO8.
