Mountain Biking - I'm BAAACCKK!!!

Hi guys! I am back with a vengance!!! I have been riding all week and getting those thighs and calves back into hill climbing mode. I love my new computer, it has all kinds of stuff on it. Except one thing that made me a little mad. I got it for Christmas (good thing), but when the 2002 version came out it was completely wireless!!! Even the cadence is now wireless!! I was pretty hot because it is the same price. Oh well. Oh, it is a Specialized. I have plenty of really good jokes I have been saving up for you all. I was wondering whatever happened to you. Thought maybe you'd gotten lost on the Berryman and were wandering aimlessly through the woods...;)

I didn't make the Berryman before winter. I did however, get to the Chubb. I hiked it many times since the first visit in Nov. It is even tough to hike. I wanted to scope it out before trashing my almost brand new bike. Glad I did!! I hope to ride it when it drys up a bit. I have to get in "bike shape" again. This late winter really sucked!!! You understand, your in Missouri too!

I haven't ridden the Chubb yet but rode Castlewood last fall. It was beautiful. You could see parts of the Chubb across the river. I heard it was really rocky. Castlewood is great though. I hope to do it and the Chubb this summer. Might see you there!:)

So Castlewood is completely separate? Is there a way to cross the river from Castlewood? There are no definative maps that I have been able to obtain because Chubb goes through three separate parks. (West Tyson (this is the most rugged part), Castlewood and Lone Elk) I am guessing that Castlewood has another trail that is separate from the Chubb??

I've only ridden it once but the guy I rode with is from there. I'll ask him if there is a way over that's close. Sure couldn't see one from where we were though. Except by boat!:D

I just sent him an email. I'll let you know what he says. We rode today at Rock Bridge in Columbia. Wish I'd known to ask him then. If you're ever down this way bring your bike. Rock Bridge in Columbia is great and there's a trail here in Jeff. at Binder Lake. It's really getting nice. They've made a lot of improvements lately. There is going to be a Fat-Tire-Festival here this summer.

Just heard back from him about Castlewood. There is a short loop on the Chubb called Castlewood loop. But across the Meremac is Castlewood State Park which is what we rode. Apparently there is no way across short of pontoons according to my smart-a$$ friend. :)

I will try Castlewood, what is the terrain like? The problem that I have with Chubb, is the lack of bathrooms. There are none! There actually is one at the West Tyson end, but that is at the start (for me). Being a female it is hard to find a spot in the woods where I want to hover over the poison ivy with my butt exposed. It is not so bad to go in the woods but there are lots of people that ride through and it is hard to find the right time to go. Guys have it so easy with the built in hose. :D

They have good facilities at the main parking lot where you start from, and several loops started and ended there so it shouldn't be a problem. Some hills, some downhill and some flat along the river. Good mix. Some really cool and kind of scary trails along the river bank. No room for error or your swimming.:)
