I'm a noob, really. I apologize. I recently got hit by a van and ended up destroying my left Shimano 105 5700 shifter. i have the chance to pick up a pair of 5600 105 shifters for cheap. Will these work fine with my 5700 105 derailleurs?

Yes, the front may need to be adjusted fairly precisely (I believe Shimano calls it a "B" level of matchup), but it'll work as long as you're getting a set that matches up to your number of chainrings (triple or double, as the case may be).
