He's moved on from the iPad already.

I thought he had a bunch of them. I've resisted apple products, but I was looking for something small and light with good batt life for mobile duty and the android stuff just isn't there yet.

Ironically, the fact that predictions I made of most of my friends not using them after a few months turned out to be true did not dissuade me as my use case is different and I like minimalist design.

The thing that put me over the top was free network connectivity as I can use my phone as a wireless access point gratis.

The Yankees beat the Mets today.

Though the T&C to use the iTunes Store was 41 pages long. By far that's the longest and most idiotic I've seen anywhere.

Pcad no longer comes to foo, as we are too PC, as it were.

IIRC, Pcad tried the iPad, then replaced it with a Macbook Air.

What service do you have? AT&T or Verizon?

T-mobile. iPad is just wifi since the network connection comes from the phone.

I wanted to get an Air first as it is a real computer. However, I actually had to have something by July 17, they're on the verge of releasing a new Air, and the new one is likely to have enough improvements that I won't be happy about paying too much for the old one. If you're wondering why I had to get a new machine, I need to be seen working on something other than what I really use (i.e. very old, but perfectly serviceable cheapo machines)

But for travel purposes, the iPad looks like it might do the trick. Minimalist, does most of the things I need on the road (document composition/editing, VPN access, server management, simple presentations, web browsing) and the other stuff can wait. Also, it's a better entertainment device than the Air which is more fun when you're on the road all day.

Apple does a lot of idiotic stuff, but if I had the money I would buy an ipad for myself.

My wife did the same thing, she felt the iPad wasn't enough of a computer.
