1) How do you pronounce it (please tell me its not ***'n), (not that there's anything wrong with that).
2) What's the translation; a name; a place; other?
3) Is it a respected name?

Thank you.

I've seen pics posted to C&V by proud Faggin owners that show top-quality frames with great workmanship. I dunno if the name is respected, but I wouldn't be ashamed to own any of those nice bikes!

I've heard it pronounced Fah-zeen.

Besides the name (and associated baggage), Faggins are a well respected marque. I owned a mid-80's Faggin with a Tre-tubi Columbus frame. Great ride and handling. Sold it because it was 1-2 cm too small.

Fah-zheen. Probaby the best value of any Italian mark. Well built and handle very well. They were imported throughout the 80's and sold to shops as frames, and built up from there (not unlike what Velo Orange does). You see Shimano 600 on a lot of them because that seemed to be the best value point on the group deals at the time. I still have an '86 which my son borrowed 3 years ago and has been abusing ever since. They never sold well not only because of the name, but they never heavily marketed them selves or established a formal distribution chain.

They still thrive here in Europe, selling modern cf bikes and retro steel steeds. Pretty bikes.

Fah-zheen.

There it is. Saw one at a garage sale about 7yrs ago. The lady would NOT sell it for anything under 500.00 if I recall. My assessment at the time was that it seemed a bit exotic.

Correct -- not Fah-zheen.

They must be well respected. I've tried to low-ball my way into an ebay purchase many times, but there's always someone willing to pay a nice price.

$500 seems a bid high unless it was still in the original box. Mine looks like H$##, with a tad bit of rust and a ding in the top tube, but I am nbot interested in selling it either. It rides that well.

Way back in the lat 70s my best friend in Highschool rode a Faggin equiped with a Suntour goup. I'm pretty sure that was the bike that got me into "high end" bikes ;)

Cheers,
Chris
