Classic & Vintage - Vintage Peugeot folder: seeking info on this model

So we moved into our "new" 110 year old house yesterday, and the sellers knew we were a bike family. So either they thought we'd appreciate them leaving some bikes behind, or they just didn't want them (I think the latter).

Anyway, in addition to a department store neon-orange Huffy hybrid was this kind of neat 70s Peugeot folder:

I'm guessing the Vassar College sticker dates it to the early 70s:

Anyone know anything about these? Honestly I didn't have the time to give it the full inspection. Besides, it's way too small for me, and heavier than a boat anchor, so it's probably going to end up on CL. But despite having apparently low-end parts, it's in amazingly well preserved condition, with nary a speck of rust to be found.

Ha! No one can tell me anything about this? No folding Francophiles in the room?

That's one cool campus commuter! I'm afraid I can't tell you that much about these bikes, other than that there was a storm of them here in Europe after the initial succes of the Moulton. Most of them were single speeds, 3 speeds or 2 speed kickbacks and of not the highest quality tubing, because manufacturers were quick to cash in on the boom and needed fat heavy tubes to compensate for the inefficient frame shape, but some nice ones exist too. funny to see a derailler on yours. they are quite rare.
I rode one a few weeks ago of a friend (in the gorgeous peugeot sky blue) and was amazed by the way it rides, it looks skittish with these small wheels but it's really quite stable.

I may try giving this one a try once the dust settles in my new house. I'm not surprised that you found the ride stable; I too thought small wheeled bikes must be unstable before I tried out a 20" wheeled Bike Friday tandem. Small wheeled bikes can feel very stable, and quick!

I have a Riga Pony that is from the same era as your Peugeot. It is really heavy to fold and carry, but not so bad to ride. Mine has a 3 speed SA hub, which I need a new cable for. The internal cable routing takes a beating when you fold the bike.
