If you want to start right on the climb, drive up the straight part of it from the 210 until it starts to bend right and there will be a tiny park on the left. You can park in the residential area around there. If you want a little bit of warm up first, I suggest parking at the Descanso Gardens or the Rose Bowl.

Thanks. Is Descanso Gardens an open lot, i.e., is it gated or fenced?

It's both gated and fenced, but most people park on the street which is residential. Right at the corner of Hwy 2 and Foothill is the La Canada Town Center, a shopping center put up by Sports Chalet, with a large public parking lot, a few restaurants, and retail stores.

Per urbanknight's suggestion, Memorial Park is west (on Foothill Blvd) off of the Angeles Crest Highway exit from the 210. I've parked there before and there's always plenty of parking.

There's a decent local pizza/sandwich shop called La Canada Imports less than a mile west from Memorial Park if you want a quick bite. Great sandwiches, averages slices.

I was actually talking about the small part about a mile up ACH, but Memorial Park is probably a better choice. As for Descanso, there is ample street parking, so no need to use their lot (which is also ample unless they are having a special day).

There's a number of quiet side streets that one can park alongside the initial climb (i.e. Milmada Dr., Wiladona Dr. etc.) Memorial Park seems to be the place though.
