Was interested to know if there were riders that used lights even during the day? At first thought it seems like it would help. More often than not you see motorcyclists ride with the headlight on. thanks!

Somewhere else in this forum is a discussion of whether flashing taillights cause motorists to give you wider berth. The opinion comes down somewhat on the side of "yes, it does." I would imagine it sets off a subconscious reaction that the cyclist is in distress and you'd better go wide if you don't want to be the one who has to stop and scrape him up if he breaks down and falls in front of you!
But front lights? Bring a lot of spare double-a's with you, I guess.

Sometimes. I ride on stretches of road with a dense canopy with evergreen trees (live oak, water oak, Palmetto) and the road is perpetually shaded. Always run a rear red blinkie.

A very bright flashing front light DEFINITELY helps, take my word for it. I run a NiteRider Digital Evolution in 15 watt flashing mode, and I notice that people who are getting ready to move in front of my travel path act WAY differently than they did before I got the light.
And the bright rear NiteRider blinker helps, too. Others here have noted this.

When commuting home on rainy, heavy overcast afternoons I run the rear blinkies and the front 15W light. I commute on a highway, which makes my visiblity all the more necessary.

In winter I put on the hub dynamo wheel. It basically costs me nothing to run and the extra resistance is not noticeable. I therefore leave a front and rear light on all the time.
When it really gets dark then I add a second battery powered front and rear light (and also a blinky) just to make sure that no one has any excuse for not seeing me. It also allows for some redundancy in the event that one light fails.

I run a bright xenon strobe on the rear during the daytime (much, much brighter than an LED) because I think that drivers who would normally see me might not be paying enough attention. The strobe will attract their eye to me, especially when I slip into a shady area or under a bridge. On the front, I often run my headlamp, as well.
Bright colors help also.
