Seattle to Portland that is; 203 miles this Saturday and Sunday with 9,999 of my best friends. :thumb:

My wife and I are visiting Seattle friends this week and doing the ride this weekend. I'll be sporting the 50+ jersey on Sunday.

Anyone else?

Have a great time! It's been a couple of years since I've done that ride, it's kind of a rolling show. The weather looks perfect for this weekend, sunny with temps in the mid 70's.....Excellent!

My wife and I did the STP a few times 8-10 years ago. Great ride and lot's of fun. We're living out East now, boo hoo.

Did it last year. It's a fun time. Just be careful, especially near the start...it gets a little crazy in there. Skipping it this year and doing RAMROD (http://www.redmondcyclingclub.org/RAMROD/RAMROD.html) instead.

Did it two years ago on our tandem.
Might want to drive the first six miles, just to figure out the roads. There are some roundabouts, narrow roads and tight turns. People are going way too fast at the start and there are a lot of beginners. Things open up once you get to Lake Washington. Get in with the first group at 04:45. Otherwise, there are too many people in front of you.
Once the road opened up, we put the hammer down. What a blast. Probably one of the easiest and well supported doubles you can do. Great scenery too

The folks I am riding with plan to roll through the start at 06:00, so we'll be in the thick of it. I'll be in a Chicago Cycling Club jersey on day 1 and the 50+ jersey on day 2. Say "hi" if you see me.

Fun ride. On day one, a serious mechanical stopped me for about three and a half hours 30 miles into the ride, so until we caught up with the pack, my riding partner and I had 40 or 50 miles of mostly open road. The ride was fun, but If I don't have to say "on your left," again for a while, I'll be happy.
