I have this year model. I just bought it for a good deal. Mostly unridden. I want it to be a commuter and I want to loose the front shock fork for a rigid. Can someone give me some links of what will work well with this and be low cost.

Also, if anyone has any cool things they can tell me about this bike, let em rip. Gary Fisher Aquila year 2000 model. It is the aluminum one and according to bikepedia all previous years were chromoly, so it must be the 2000 one. I have the blue one.

Thanks. I'm assuming where it says cantilever only, that it will work with the v-brakes that the bike has?

Yeah, it'll work great with v-brakes. There's even a question posed down the page a bit by one of the site visitors asking that, which the Tree Fort folks answered. There's also a review on there written by someone that did the exact same thing you're wanting to do.

Hey ed, do you think I should get the chrome valve stem caps, or the black ones? Oh, and maybe you could post some photos of the ones I should get. :rolleyes:

Nice, but I'm afraid the crossbones will add an extra gram or two to the weight of the bike. Not to mention the increased aerodynamic turbulence.

The Surly 1x1 is a great rigid fork thatcan be had for cheap. I have one on my commuter.
