Hello to all. I just started riding frequently/seriously about 5 months ago when I decided to sell my car and get around by bicycle and public transport. Irving is a suburb of Dallas, and I just moved to the old downtown of the city so I would be next to the train station. The Dallas area is not bike-friendly by any stretch of the imagination, but they have been building a train and light-rail system to complement the bus service over the last decade. I ride so much just getting around that I don't often ride for fun, I use a Burley Nomad trailer for grocery shopping and have a Dahon Matix 26-inch folder (because you can always bring a folder onto the public tranport in the area but they can refuse a regular bike during the rush hours). I found this forum in a way because I had a nasty wreck. I was shopping for helmets and one of my searches landed me here. I lowsided the other day leaning low into a tight turn and my face pretty much absorbed all the impact. Broken nose, some stitches. The adrenaline kept me from really feeling any pain, but it won't help the pain of the doctor's bills when they arive. I'm definitely gong to wear a helmet from now on, although it won't have helped me on Thursday (unless it was full-face). I was in a turn, so I'd slowed down some and I still messed myself up pretty good--I'd hate to think what would happen if I hit my head at full speed. Nice to find the forum and to see there are so many people who use it. Maybe I'll post some pictures of my bike and my busted up face when I get the time.

Cheers,
Anthony King

Welcome to the forums. Sorry to hear about your crash. Glad to hear it hasn't stopped you from riding. NO riding for fun...now I just know about that though.:D

Well, I should have said I rarely take a purely recreational ride. I'm usually going somewhere, but I always have fun.
