I'm looking to purchase a road bike for the first time, but I'm afraid I don't know too much about bikes. It has alloy wheels, 4130 chromoly frame with forged dropouts, and index Shimano shifting. I'm afraid that's all the information I have. Here's a picture of it: http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww335/telepciaka/SchwinnWorldSport1.jpg
Is it worth $180?

Schwinn world sports from the 80s are decent for commuting and riding on the road for fun... (ie... not touring, racing, or going super long distances).
I've sold a number of these fully refurbished with new tires, tubes, cables, chain, and bar tape and usually get about $175 for them.
Your the paint looks good... I would just make sure the tires are in good shape no dry rotting on the side walls and enough life left to get you around for a year or so.
Price maybe a little high depending on your market... where are you? My guess is the sell will take less... if it fits you and you like it and it rides well.... offer $150 and see if you can't get it for around $165.
Make sure you check that the wheels are true... by spining them and watching for a wobble or break rubbing.
