Fifty Plus (50+) - Wish to Request an unofficial Pie ride.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Plenty to celebrate- but have to admit that this one is definitely worth us sacrificing our waist lines for.

Beverley is back riding so I propose that we have a Pie ride for her. Not going to give you much time either as it is Friday now- I am at work on Saturday and am on holiday next week.

That leaves Sunday 10th July for all of us to take a ride to our best cafe and join in with a slice of Pie for one of our Revered members (Was going to say "older" but Bev has a strong right hook)

I know it is not the forums official pie ride but I think it is well worth taking a break on your century ride up a mountain-On your Double Century- or even on that 50 mile offroad you are doing on Sunday to take the first step in training for the"Official" Pie ride in September

And on top of that- If 50 of us can do a Pie ride- it will stop Beverley from doing all that cooking and posting of slices out to us.

I'm in.

I'm working the "Day Shift" on that day but my common commute during good summer weather is 15+ miles round trip. My commute will be my "Pie Ride". I may substitute Ice Cream for Pie, but I'll "Git 'er done".

Always in for PIE! Back to riding celebration - sounds like chocolate cream pie to me - with plenty of whipped cream!

That morning I'll be test-riding the course for the upcoming relay tri I'm entered in. The course goes within a half-block of what is reputed to be the best donut place in town. Not sure they have pie, though.

I'll be flying back from Seattle that day so no can do unless they serve pie on the airplane.

I'll be thinking of all of you, though, and especially Beverly.

But in the blueberry capital of the world you can get pie. Yes? I'll do the ride and fore-go the pie if you do the pie and fore-go the ride.

Good on Beverly for getting the ok to ride again! :-)
A friend & I just made plans to go pick blue berries, so a blue berry pie will be made (and eaten) on the 10th, but I don't know if I will be able to get a ride in. That still counts, yes?

I thought all 50+ rides were, at least unofficially, pie rides.

Thanks! I was able to join all of you for a ride today. I didn't have pie but had a delicious Greek omelet at one of our favorite breakfast stops.

It was a short, easy 12 miles but it was great and I felt fine after the ride.

So glad you were able to get a ride in today, Bev. I have been cleared to ride after the 20th, but... I am going to cheat! Next weekend I am going to Manhattan with my sister to visit my son. We are making arrangements to rent bikes in Central Park. I am going to get a tandem and let my son steer.:twitchy: Afterwards, I will insist we all eat pie in your honor, Bev!

+1 on that and make certain you wear shoes you can walk in.

I once took out a "New" tandem rider offroad and at the bottom of a long fast downhill we stopped to wait for the other. While waiting the "New" stoker got his phone out and phoned his wife to come and pick him up. There was no way he was getting back onto that Tandem. He walked two miles to the road and I had to pedal a 55lb bike solo back home.

:lol:Good grief, Stapfam, you must have terrorized the poor man with your rapid descent!! My son is an inexperienced tandem rider, as am I, so as Bev suggested, I am a tad concerned about his steering abilities. However, should he provide me with the type of ride you describe, I will box his ears with my good arm! :notamused: Though knowing my son to be considerate of his mama and auntie, it will be a slow and gentle ride with lots of stops in Central Park to view the sights, people watch, and of course, have pie!

If you have a cast on the bad arm, use it;)

:lol: The cast has been removed, so I'll have to go with where my strength is! However, my heavy purse might add a bit of power, as would a clean roundhouse; my legs have not been affected by my injury!

OK, my ride is in - 47 miles eventually leading to a stop at Ray's Dinner. Only had coffee, given Miss Kenton will be taking on the pie part for me.

Bevery, hang tough for the next bit coming, and ride when you can!

7 of us out on a PIE ride today. Various milages due to different bikes- aims of the riders and capabilities- but Pie for all. Besides the breakfast that some had aswell- or the baguette- we all had Pie. The others had Apple but I had the healthy option.

It has to be healthy- It's got fruit on it

Good luck for the coming weeks Beverley.

That looks delicious and I agree the fruit makes it a healthy choice.

I've even found a healthy choice for beer after a ride.....they serve Blue Moon beer with an orange slice here and I always eat the orange;)
