Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - I may be slow....

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I set out this morning with a goal to finish the MUP where I normally ride (27 Miles), within a 100 yards of starting two groups of riders buzzed past me. Now I have this nasty competitive streak, and my immediate reaction was to to gear up and chase them. But my race today was not against them, it was against myself and the MUP, so I focused on my form and cadence and settled in for the long haul, not worrying about how fast I was going.
5 Miles into my ride, there was the first group taking a break...
11 Miles into my ride there was the second group stopped along side the MUP....
I just kept on doing what I was supposed to so that I could win my race, not sure what happened to either group, since I never saw them again, but I finished my race and won. :D

Excellent ride! I like to put my feet on the ground every 10 miles and have a drink. Getting the bottle out of the cage is OK, but I crash when trying to put it back. Don't get dehydrated riding 27 miles without stopping.

Congrats on the race win. I too race solo, always trying to increase my personal best and focus on the form.

Awesome! :)
Speed is over-rated. :)
Then again, you never see an over-weight speed addict.
Seriously, keep it up as you seem to know what is important.
Ride a bike ....... have fun ! :thumb:

Ever seen any crashes on this MUP? I'm a speed demon, but never on a MUP, just not safe. I've seen some nasty stuff on MUPs in the Washington, D.C. area.

Slow and steady. Many things in life are best slow and steady. :)
