I previously drove an old K-5 Blazer and kept a medium-sized toolbox in there with all of my tools (I figure I'll almost always be where my truck is, so always have access to my tools. At home, not so much). I recently got a Silverado to replace it, and a toolbox to go in the bed, but I'm not entirely sure how I want to store it.
The toolbox is about 59"x20"14". I have about 300 pieces that need to be stored, essentially a Craftsman 246 piece kit with various other tools added as I went. My current idea is splitting the socket and wrenches up into the Metric and SI units, and storing them in these long, narrow boxes designed to fit under the backseat of trucks (found them in store, but couldn't find them online).
The boxes are just plastic, between 12 and 24 inches long, about 4-6 inches deep, and 2-4 inches tall, latch, and open inside with no tool grooves. The rest of the tools I would put in a standard 16" steel toolbox or something. I figure this would be the best idea for saving space, cost-effectiveness (about $50), and organization (I'm OCD with my tools).
Wonder if any of you have any clever or creative ways to store your tools that could help me out? Thanks.
