so my bud gave me his old HED Alps wheel a few days ago, but as you
can see there is a huge ass gash in it where some guy who had it be
for him cut it to make the short valve fit... I 'v been riding it with
no problem on my Fuji for a few days and my friend rode it for a
month with no problems. So do what do you think? Is it a total
death-trap or anything? or is it just fine to ride?
Thanks, appreciate it.

Howdy and welcome to the forums! I would take that question the the Bike Mechanic section, they would be better help for you than here in the Introductions forums. Maybe a mob will move it for ya. I would not ride them, I would think they are compromised structurally.
