I recently converted to tubeless, and in the process, my LBS guys noted several small pin-pricks in my old tires. They were probable from thorns, but the shop guys were concerned that I'm going to flat very quickly with a tubeless setup.

Any thoughts? Is there some sort of slime I should put in my tires to guard against these? What do you carry to fix a tubeless flat? I may just go back to tubes...

Tubes is how you fix a Tubeless flat when you can't get to a compressor. That is the down side of tubeless, you need a big blast of air to seal the tire and rim. I plan on getting back to tubeless someday. For now I am riding the tubes I put in to fix my tubeless flats.

I just converted to tubeless. I made the transition along with getting new tires, so there's not an issue with previous tire punctures. I've ridden on them two times and have had no issues, but I have had pressure loss overnight, with one tire going completely flat. I just followed the resealing instructions on the stan's website (http://www.notubes.com/detailed_kit_instruction.aspx) and hopefully they'll seal up completely. Try step 6 to see where the holes are and perhaps the shaking process will help things out. Good luck.

part of the tubeless setup is Stan's, which will seal any small holes in the tire. with tubeless, you can run such a low pressure, a small pinprick in a tire won't even show.
