Is there any problems hanging a bike upside down by the rims. I store my bike in the kitchen right now but would like to hang it insted of it just letting it get in the way. The real question woul be. Does it hurt the rims to hanging it by the rims for over a month or even two?

No problem unless you use the top tube for chinups.

This is a question that comes up often. In most cases it doesn't harm the bike at all. If you think about it, a bike only weighs 20 or 30 pounds. You wouldn't think twice about hanging 30 pounds from a metal hook the size of a bicycle rim would you?

A few mountain bikes have air/oil suspension forks that don't take kindly to hanging upside down. If you wear through the plastic coating on your hooks, it will leave cosmetic marks on your rims, but they'll still be safe to ride.

Like supcom says, don't do chinups. You may break the bike hooks.

30 pounds? Isn't that an awfully heavy bike?

Ah, I forgot about cruisers, the battle tanks of the biking community. That reminds me I need to find one for my friend.

Take the time to cut n slip a piece of hosing over the hooks. It's a bummer finding out the plastic coating of the hook has worn through and your rims are getting scratched up.

Alternatively you can give em a couple turns with electric tape. Just check em once in a while.

I was just concerned about letting it hang for a month at a time. I was afraid of oblonged warping in the rim. Im not sure how much my bike wieghs although I could strip it down and hang what nees to be hanged. I thank you all very mich for the response :)
