Mountain Biking - Tora, Recon, disc brakes, what to do?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Hi all,

one of the local bike shops a couple dozen miles from here (it's a rather large one) is selling real cheap Rock Shocks. Now I'm getting real interested to finally fit my aging but much-loved rigid steel bike with some suspension forks.

In particular, I'm looking at a Tora and a Recon, which sell for the same amount (or near enough). The normal move would be to buy a Recon, as it is higher up the food chain, but then I would have to immediately shell out on a disc brake and a new hub too.

I was wondering if anyone has some intimate experience with these forks, and has an opinion to share about them. Also, from pictures I get the impression the Tora would accept rim AND disc brakes. Is this the case?

Cheers
