I ordered my Parker from Jensonusa.com. It's supposed to arrive tomorrow. I asked the salesman which spring the Domain came with and he said it was a "Firm" spring which should be good for riders over 200#. I had my doubts b/c what stock bike comes with a firm spring these days? Most bikers I know are beanpoles.

I decided to call Jamis today for some reassurance. They said that the Parker ships with a medium spring. I D/L'd the Rockshox coil spring chart and it says that the firm spring is for riders 180-200. The Extra Firm is for 200+.

I'm a little pissed:mad:

I'm hoping to get some good riding in this week, but with a mushy fork...bleh! I overnighted the extra firm which should be here tomorrow or wednesday.

Cost me an extra $10 on shipping (which wasn't nearly as bad as I thought) but at least I'll have it. Now I hope the extra firm isn't too stiff. I'm about 205 w/o gear, so I figure if I have a pack on...the extra firm will be on the stiff side of adequate.

Given the fact that I'm using it for mainly urban riding...I'll probably be happy with it. I just don't want to get it and find that I needed the "firm" instead of "extra firm". That's another $50!

Too bad you didn't have the info straight from Jamis before you talked to the Jenson sales guy - - then you could've grilled him about the info discrepancy. Ah well . . . anxious to read your thrash tests when you get a chance to take it out.

Given the fact that I'm using it for manly urban riding...fixed.

Its too bad the industry doesn't train its reps better. I like Jenson, but the rep should have been able to do the work you did.

Urban riding eh, don't spill ur Starbucks on your shifters.
