This heat must've fried my brain, but I envisioned this while sprinting through the shade on the way home. A helmet that:

-is full faced
-climate controlled
-has mini LCD screens for the eyes that's hooked up to a digital camera that has IR mode, zoom, and photo/video capture
-audio that muffles the wind noise, yet still can hear a hybrid car sneaking up on you
-amplified voice projector to get people's attention

It's just a rough outline of the concept...

-The full faced/climate controlled part seems interesting, albeit probably hard to implement at reasonable cost.
-The LCD screens part - what's the point? With night vision (IR) you lose depth perception, which is pretty important IMO. Integrated video capture could be nice, it'd be more durable and steadier than a mounted camera.
-Built in megaphone? heh heh heh...

Only thing I might add is a built in mirror, which would be much easier than selective audio filtering.

You forgot the laser cutters for the JAMs that ignore the amplified voice projector.

Sweet! Between the lag inherent in a digital system, and for focusing the cameras, you'll get to see how protective this new helmet is in no time...! ;)

I kind of like the idea of a rear-facing camera linked to a small video screen; particularly if it could flip up out of the way. And my winter riding was absolutely transformed when I got a good pair of ski goggles, so I completely understand the appeal of a windscreen. Helicopter pilot's helmets are readily available on the surplus market, perhaps you could pick up one of those for experimental purposes?
