Hybrid Bicycles - Show Me Your Bar Ends

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

So i'm just interested at the different Bar ends everybody is using with there hybrids. One of the fall backs of a hybrid is the lack of hand positions that a road bike provides.
Right now i have some Novara bar ends wrapped in some tape that turn inwards a little bit. and up just a little. I have them level with the handlebars so when i lean into them i'm a little more forward and they let me cruise in a lower profile.

Just wondering what everyone else is working with, looking for maybe another alternative. My girlfriend is about to buy a 7.2 FX and i'm looking into new bar ends for me and giving her the ones i have now.

Since you already have what appears to be a set of GP1s on your bike I don't have to tell you what excellent grips Ergon makes. I find that their integrated barends are every bit as good as their grips. I have a pair of GC2 (http://www.ergon-bike.com/us/en/product/gc2)s on my family hauler. IMHO they don't look out of place with the riser bars, and a great feature of the GC2 is that the end of the bar remains open should you want to install a mirror. The barend is short (2 fingers) but gives me all the comfort I need for this application:

I also have a set of GC3 (http://www.ergon-bike.com/us/en/product/gc3)s. While the bike pictured below now sports a trekking bar/GP1 setup, the GC3s were every bit as comfortable and will soon find a home on my next project bike:

Those aerobars make it look like a time-trial bike.
I ended up cutting the curves off mine so the mirror would work. Also been thinking of replacing the grips and bar taping everything.

I've done that before but then switched to the Ergon grips. definitely a wise choice.

How do those barends clamp to the bar? Do they have things that attach to the inside of the bar, like a quill stem (how it attaches to the steerer tube) or does it clamp on to the outside of the bar, like most barends?

They clamp like most bar ends. Then I rolled tape over everything
