Looking for a 44t 1/8th inch (black) chainring. I bought a Sugino a year or two ago for 45 dollars and change.... now they're really hard to find and 98 dollars? Some of the other colors are coming up as 30 and 40 bucks....
What's going on? Any ideas? Where should I be shopping?
Does anyone have a recommendation for a 130BCD 44T 1/8th inch ring?
It's for this bike, btw:

**** Origin 8. EighthInch chainrings are the best bang for the buck.

The system of supply and demand. You can always check your CL or ebay for cheaply priced used ones; there should be plenty.

Sinz sells em on ebay for about $12. I've been using one happily for 6 months. Its not perfectly round, and it sure as hell won't last me forever, but its holding up great and I'm happy with the buy. (No flashy logos either)

anyone have an opinion on the Brev chainrings? they're made by Masi, have that "messenger" look, and available up to 50T.
A friend has an Eighthinch and it is well made. Too bad you're weren't looking for a 46T as I have an extra Sugino I'm selling.

Velosolo. Just look them up on Ebay.
Either them or Blackspire.

I bought an eighth inch crankset a few months ago, my chainring is already bent.. but maybe I was just unlucky

A bent chainring (regardless of which brand) is usually caused by loose chainring bolts.

What did you do to bend it?

I keep my chainring bolts tight, I have no idea what happened to bend it.

Realistically, it could have been a Happy Thursday bike derby incident, but who knows
