Pacific Northwest - I've moved to Portland, request suggestions for hiking and cycling trails

Yeah, it'll be a pretty long list, the problem is that I don't know where to start.

All I can tell you is that I plan to bike and or hike every weekend for the foreseeable future.

There are a LOT of hiking and biking trails in Portland. I would just do some research or buy a trail book at Powells. Also, I hope you like beer b/c the beer is literally amazing in Portland. Here's a few popular ones that come to mind.

For biking, there's the 40 mile loop, Forest Park for mountain biking, and Sauvie Island. For hiking, there's Forest Park, Multnomah Falls, and Mt Hood.

Portland? Lot of options.

BTW - if you want some fun - the Banks Vernonia Trail (linear state park) with a wooden trestle and more is just west of the city.

This is one of the best rail trail rides in OR. The other is the Row River Trail out of Cottage Grove. both have camping, so you can make a weekend of it.

For Mountain Biking, you'll want to connect up with the Norhwest Trail Alliance. These guys have done a lot of good work on access, trail work, etc.
