I am building a vintage bike, late 80:ties with Shimano 600 components, 6200-series. Now I simply wonder, what saddle should I use. I spotted a Brooks leather saddle today on a bike and I almost took it, it looked so cool. So, is it ok to use a Brooks leather saddle and in that case, what model should I be looking for?

original flite. Cinelli Uni canitor.

Is it okay!? Who's gonna stop you? If you like narrow saddles look at the B-15 or Professional models. If you like something a bit wider, the B72 or B66.

A couple more that are both period correct & popular for late '80s, and many find comfortable, would be the Turbo and the Rolls. I like either one of 'em on rides under 50 miles, but my butt likes my Brooks Pros & B-17 Standards the best... ;)

It sounds like it is going to be a Brooks B-17 then :) Or a pro, but they cost like hell here in Sweden.

EBAY! I recently bought a couple NOS chrome-railed B-17 Standards for $55 each... Not too bad. The Chrome-railed ones are getting harder to find now.

I just mounted a Brooks B-17 Champion Special on my 20 year old Austro Daimler SLE. The AD has been upfitted with Shimano Ultegra/600 Crankset and 600 long reach brake calipers with new wheels that are Shimano hubs, DT spokes and Mavic MA3 Rims.
The Brooks saddle is honey color with copper rivits and rails while the AD is a dark burgundy. It looks great! Now if the rain will let up, I'll see how it sits on the road.
