Have a seller that's contacted me with an '83 Raleigh 502 frame and fork.....wants 50 bucks for it, which I think is a bit high. Would it even be worth going by and looking at and offering him 25 bucks for it if it's in decent shape?

I'm wanting to buy an old frame so that I can try my hand at building a bike from the ground up with what I can find cheap on ebay or cl and with the small box of used parts that I have......or is this frame worth restoring to somewhat original shape? Or is this frame not worth any time at all?

Just curious, as I have no clue as to what Raleighs are worth.

$50 for a frame is fine, depends on the condition of the paint and decals. If they are in good to great shape, fine, if they are in so so shape, pass. Raleigh 502 tubing is nothing great, and building bikes can be a money losing proposition.

For me to build something, it has to be a really nice frame, and almost always a complete bike (I use the sale of the existing components to offset my build). So personally, I would rather spend a little more and get a lot better frame.

Thanks, wrk......that's what I was thinking. I was already leaning toward not even looking at it, just wanted to be sure that it wasn't anything special.....I'm not that crazy about Raleighs anyways.
