Mountain Biking - Huge Drops!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I've done lots of big drops over the years, but this was unusually intimidating for me, and it took quite a while to psych myself up for it! (Could be because at almost 56, I know it takes a lot longer to bounce back from injuries than when I was 20!)
The landing was hard pan and sloped *back* towards me, making it very difficult to roll out. Approx. 6 foot drop, but when I was up there, my eyes were looking 12 feet down!
The thumbnail below should change in a while, so if you're seeing the split screen thumb, that is *not* the drop I'm referring to, haha,.

Yeah but with a regular bike you have suspension and your legs to absorb the impact where as it seems with a unicycle you have your seat and your kahones to absorb it. Granted I really have no frame of reference given i cant even sit on a unicycle.

I don't know too many experienced mtbers who have there weight on the saddle at *impact* from a drop! They, like me, are standing on the PEDALS, with all their weight OFF the saddle. And I have a great deal of shock absorption from my 65mm LM rim and 3" wide high volume tire, plus my legs. Nads a 100% safe from harm! So there you go...I'm happy to educate the uninformed! :)
