Classic and Vintage Bicycles: What's it Worth? Appraisals and Inquiries - 80's Viner Junior

I purchased this bike in the early 80's used so it may be vintage late 70's. Equipment is mostly Italian however the pedals and seat post are Japanese (SR). Details:

Wheels are Campy Record hubs laced to 24" Nisi tubular rims
Crank/BB are Ofmega
FD is Campy Record; RD is Campy Nuovo Gran Sport; DT shifters are Campy record
Brakes are Modolo Speedy
Saddle is San Marco Concor Junior

I have one set of NOS vintage tubulars and a few used spares.

I had tried to sell this about 10 years ago but got discouraged. The folks that came to look at it were small in stature and looking for a good deal on a road bike that fit them. I believe I was asking $250 but offers ranged from $100-125, which was way to low for me to part with it. One person said she would give me $100 if I would replace the tubular rims with narrow clinchers!

Anyhow, I would like to give another go to selling it. What do you think would be a reasonable price.

this is cute! it is basically a bike for 10ish year old kids right? any idea what the frame is made of? I think is this was a standard 700c wheeled bike $250 might not be a bad price for it. but as 24" wheels junior bike the price may simply depend on how bad a buyer wants.

it is still a bit early on Sunday but more knowledgable members will see this soon and have better answwers. can you post some better pics? closeups that show the condition of the frame andd components?

it might be worth the effort and a few dollars to post it on ebay with a $1 starting bid and $500 reserve just to see what interest there is in it. (I am not saying it is worth $500 just that way no one can walk away with it for $10.

A "junior" Masi from Italy sold a year ago or so for $510. it was really trick. The other bikes that came up of that size barely made $200. Young racers today are not interested in these bikes, they want index and light weight, a recent visit to a sanctioned race made the racing equipment of yesteryear downright bush league, today's dad's must enjoy vicariously giving junior the equipment they only dreamed of. That written, the market is more of a C&V dad who has a child that is even modestly interested in his hobby.

This bike appears from the one image fairly nice, the brake levers are hopeless for scale hands. $300. I think is too much, but close, to get that one will have to be willing to ship I think. Fortunately it is small, so shipping is easier. I do not recall the requirements of offering on the C&V for sale area, but it is a bike that with more images I would be interested in, with two young ones that may be tolerant of Dad's vintage bike interest. And I am not afraid of tubulars. If there is a fee, "donation" to get entre to be allowed to post a "for sale" advert, I bet it is cheaper than ebay fees, which are pushing 15% factoring in the almost mandatory paypal, and the final listing fee now including shipping...(don't get me started with the problems of a monopoly)...

you need the upgrade membership, I think like $12 a year or something, but worth it for a bike like this. selling it here will ensure it will go to a good home.

are there still 24" wheel races in the U.S.? This is a much better bike than most of the 24" wheel bikes I saw in my youth. Those were almost all fairly heavy French bikes. The only performance item on those bikes was the tubular tires

Yes, for the "midget" class 10 to 12 years old still exists. In Southern California there were a bunch of nice "junior" bikes. One guy in the club built a 54 cm track bike for a 11 year old girl who was like 5' 4". There was another local builder HOOD, that made some nice lugless frames. Maybe things were just different out here, like Junior sized Schwinn Paramounts....

I was not sure what happened to Milano Sport n the USA, if I remember they were the folk importing Alberto Masi's bikes, the website stopped being updated in like 2003.
