Bicycle Mechanics - Truvativ Bottom Bracket Spacer

I need a spacer for a truvative LE square taper bottom bracket. (Used on a 68mm shell with out an e mount derailleur). Anybody know of a source? My LBS has not been any help. I've written to Sram, but have not received a response. I've got another bottom bracket on the way for another bike, so I guess I can try to match up the one on that bracket or fab something if I can't find one. Thanks.

Visit another delaer, especially one that sells Sram/Truvative stuff. The Sram customer service is really good about this kind of stuff, but are set up to deal with dealers, not directly with consumers. If the shop needs a part like this, it's one phone call and it'll be in the mail within a day. Or the shop can verify that one is coming and borrow one from a crankset he has in stock.

If the shop that wouldn't help was one you spent at regularly, they have no excuse, and you might want to move your future business elsewhere. OTOH if you weren't a regular customer, I could see that they might not be overly motivated to help, even if it was only a matter of making a call. Doing small no dollar jobs for non customers is one of those gray areas, some see it as a burden with little to gain, others see it as an opportunity to make a new customer.

For others who need low/no dollar service help from shops they don't usually spend at, here's a tactic that may get you over the hump. Go in and find something you're willing to buy, bring it to the counter and say "I also need....." With a sale prospect hanging they should step up, if not, politely say "then I guess I can do without this also".

If it's just a spacer that goes between the BB shell and the BB then one from any brand should work equally well as long as you get the width about right - I have a little pot of spare ones from random BBs, I would expect that your LBS should have some.

You could also just back out right-side threads and leave some space where the ring would be using locktite on the threads to keep it in place.
