On my Tarmac I'm running Ultegra triple except for a FSA SL-K carbon crankset. It shifts fine with the stock 52/39/30. I'd like to run this particular bike with 53/42/32 but the 6703 front does not like the 42t middle which I presume is by design since it's rated for a 13t spread between middle and outer. I was not able to get acceptable performance based on the inner cage design so I went back to the stock rings.
The 5703 105 series is rated for 11t since it's triple is 50/39/30. Before I buy one I'm assuming 11 teeth is 11 teeth whether it's 53/42 or 50/39?
I already have the FSA chainrings to swap out, the 42t and 53t are ramped and pinned and I managed to locate the hard to find 32t 74mm ring. I ran the 53/42/32 setup on a Campy equipped bike for a few years and like that ratio of gearing. I'm hoping I can get the same thing with the Ultegra shifters since they perform so much better on upshifting between rings.
