Today was the first day I made myself ride in the rain (mist, actually.) I didn't wimp out as usual because I was wearing my new helmet with rain cover (Bell Metro.) It was a pleasant experience, acutally. Plus, it helps that the weather is a little warmer today; 43 when I started out. Here's hoping this might mark the end of my rain-timidity.
I'm wondering why so few helmets have visors like the Metro? It seems like such an essential component.

I use a helmet with a visor for mountain biking and commuting (cyclocross bike). On both those bikes the handlebars are roughly level with the saddle. On my road bike, the bars are a couple of inches lower than the saddle giving me a less upright position, so wearing a helmet with a visor tends to give me a sore neck on long rides due to having to tilt my head back just that little bit further to see past the visor.

On the MTB and commuter the helmet is very useful to help deflect a bit of water and debris. On the roadie, that's not so important...
