I just bought a new 2010 GT Avalanche 2.0 disk. I have only ridden it once because I don't ride mountain bikes much. I am 80% road rider and 15% city and 5% mt. I have a nice older Schwinn Moab that I can use for the few times I actually use a mt bike. I was thinking it was a waste to have a brand new mt bike just sit when I could turn it into a hybrid and ride it in town.
I have a Specialized Sirrus but I don't like it and will sell it as soon as I get something else or make my own hybrid.
What I want to know is, are the disk brakes a bad idea for any reason on a hybrid? I have never had them before so I am not familiar with all the inns and outs of them.
I wil need some road tires as well. Any suggestions for a thinner and lighter road tire is helpful. Price is not really an issue since good tires are worth the money and that is about all I think I need to do.
