Northeast - CT River ferries being closed by state of CT
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Anyone know of any bicycling activity to save the two ferries on the lower Connecticut River?. The state is planning on closing them in late August as a budget cutting move
These are the two ferries on the Two Ferry ride, run by Cycling Concepts in Rocky Hill. The NBW also has an annual ride out there, the Norwich Metric. Other organized rides use the ferries too I believe.

I just rode over the chester ferry Tuesday as part of an evening group ride. Hopefully they won't go through with the closures.
I'm not sure of any organized groups but the town of Lyme is suing the state.
It must've been a great ride!
Hard to imagine Connecticut would shut down such wonderful links when the yearly cost is less than $400,000 for one bridge and a quarter million for the other. Maybe the local bike club should organize a ride to help cover the legal fees. You could operate both bridges for a year on the money an event like the 5 Boro Bike tour makes in registration fees.
